I don't remember the exact date, but beteen August 29th, and September 3rd, 2023, I went to the Roughriders game. At the game Chris Davis, Derek Holland, Ian Kinsler, and Tanner Scheppers, threw out the first pitch. They also signed autographs for the fans who showed up to the game.
Chris Davis signed my 2020 Topps card of him. Chris Davis played 13 years in the big leagues, from 2008-2020. His best season was definitely 2013, when he led the AL with 53 Home runs, 138 RBI, and 370 total bases, he obviously was an all-star and won the silver slugger, but he only got 3rd in MVP votes. Miguel Cabrera got first in MVP votes, and Mike Trout got 2nd, so you can't blame Chris Davis for only only getting 3rd.
Derek Holland signed my 2020 Topps card of him. Derek played 13 years in the big leagues from 2009-2021. Derek Holland wasn't very good, he didn't strike out a lot of batters, only 7.6 per 9 innings, but he did walk a lot of batters, 3.3 per 9 innings. I think his most remarkable season was 2011, when he won 16 games and only lost 5, giving him a .762 win/loss percentage. Four of his 16 wins were shutouts, and he obviously led the league with those 4.
Ian Kinsler signed my 2018 Topps card of him. When Ian Kinsler saw that I had a card for him to sign and that I had cards of Chris Davis and Derek Holland, he said that I must have a rather large baseball card collection. Ian Kinsler played 14 years from 2006-2019. Ian Kinsler was an all-star in 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014. He also won the Gold Glove in 2016 and 2018. In 2018 he also won the world series with the Boston Red Sox.
I didn't have a card of Tanner Scheppers, so I had him sign a baseball. When I gave him the baseball to sign, since I had the other guys sign cards and not baseballs, he asked why I didn't have a card of him. Sorry Tanner, but you weren't very good, so I wasn't able to find any cards of you. Tanner Scheppers played 6 years from 2012-2017, all with the Rangers. He didn't strike out a lot of batters, only having 7.3 strike outs per 9 innings, and he did walk a lot of batters with 3.5 walks per 9 innings.
I like the Chris Davis card. The 2020 design was.......alright, in my opinion. Remember his 0-for-54 streak???
